”HEARTLESS” TO BE SCREENED AT THE BERLINALE

The first five episodes of “Heartless” will be screened at a special event at this year’s Berlinale in the program Generation, that for the first time will screen a tv-series.

On the platform Generation 14plus “Heartless”, which aired on Danish Kanal 5 in the spring, will get its German premiere on the festivals publikumstag.

Copenhagen Film Fund funded the series with two million kroner in the fall of 2013. It was originally scheduled to shoot in Hungary and the fund played a part in securing and maintaining jobs in the capital area. The production spent an estimated 12 million kroner in Denmark.

”Heartless” takes place on the hidebound borderschool Ottmansgård where the siblings Sofie and Sebastian (played by Julie Zangenberg and Sebastian Jessen) are struggling with strong emotions like love, the social hierarchy of the school and their vampire-like urge to suck life out of the other students.

The series is produced by Fridtjof Film A/S, directed by Natascha Arthy and written by Nikolaj Scherfig. In addition to Copenhagen Film Fund and Fridtjof Film A/S there is also funds from SBS Discovery Media which is the owner of Kanal 5 and Public Service Puljen.
