THEY GOT FUNDING
”The Wave” is a spectacular disaster movie of Hollywood-dimensions – the first of its kind in Scandinavia.
The film takes place in the time before an event takes place that turns the experienced geologist Kristian Eikjord’s (played by Kristoffer Joner) worst nightmare into reality. The alarm goes of and the disaster is inevitable. With less than teen minutes to react it turns into a battle against time to save as many lives as possible from the biggest flood ever.
It is Norwegian disaster movie, as you have never seen it before in the North. Fante Film made an impression with genre films such as “Fritt Vilt” and “Ragnarok”. Despite of a budget of DKK 38 millions, which is low in this genre, “The Wave” has a high production value. It is a film with high special effect-demands and the Danish VFX-company “Ghost” was chosen for the job. In addition the Danish actor/actress Thomas Bo Larsen and Mette Horn plays two smaller roles as a Danish couple on vacation.
