Last Sunday all of Scandinavia could again find an occasion to gather in front of the screen at the same time, when the third season of “the Bridge” premiered. “The Bridge III” keeps the flag flying and finds the same success as the previous seasons. With 839,000 viewers this season even exceeds the previous season II, where 818,000 Danes saw the first episode two years ago.

So apparently Kim Bodnia’s exit from the series haven’t had a substantial impact on the show’s popularity at home.

In total the first episode of “The Bridge III” was seen by over three million wievers in Sweden, Norway and Denmark all together, since it was broadcasted at the same time.

The reviewers are primarily excited too. With the headline “Cruelty and sublime filmed darkness characterizes The Bridge III” the Danish newspaper Politiken gives the first episode five out of six stars and Berlingske and Extra Bladet both gives four out of six.

The Danish newspaper Information compliments the people behind “The Bridge”, which among others counts DR, STV and Copenhagen Film Fund, for achieving the vision decades of political work has had some difficulties with – to create a common frame of reference for us in neighboring Sweden and Denmark.

But it is not only the Scandinavian population, who can relate to the gloomy universe that the crime series through the seasons has built. “The Bridge III” has already been sold to 160 countries, which correspond to the fact that the series will be shown in 83 percent of the world’s countries. Britons, Russians, Japanese, Spaniards, Colombians and South Africans are now all familiar with the Oresund Bridge, Copenhagen Police Headquarters and the small greengrocers in Blågårdsgade.

We look forward to see what rest of the series has to offer. Below you can get a preview of what the people behind “the Bridge” believe the viewers can expect from season three.
