THE DANISH GIRL
”The Danish Girl” is a starstudded epic film based on the real story of Danish Lili Elbe who successfully underwent surgery to become a woman in 1930 as one of the first in the world.
The film tells the unusual lovestory between the artists Lili Elbe/Einar Mogens Wegener and Gerda Wegener. Their relationship is challenged when Einar takes steps towards becoming the first woman in the world to undergo a sex change operation.
Film has world-renowned names in the central positions. Lili Elbe who was a the Danish artist Einar Mogens Wegener is played by Eddie Redmayne who won a Oscar for his role in “The Theory of Everyting” (2014) and director Tom Hooper who was awarded with an Oscar for best film for “The King’s Speech” (2014).
The film crew is shooting ten day in the heart of Copenhagen and the story focuses on a piece of history when a Dane was involved in breaking new ground.
